Che Tango – Special Edition with Marcelo “El Chino” Gutiérrez
Che Tango! not just another afternoon.
For this special edition, we welcome Marcelo “El Chino” Gutiérrez as our guest DJ, bringing his musical sensitivity and deep understanding of tango to the floor.
Marcelo approaches music the same way he approaches movement - with structure, intention, and clarity. Expect tandas that breathe, build, and resolve. Music that invites you to listen more carefully, move more intentionally, and connect more deeply.
This is a space to explore everything you’ve been working on - grounding, phrasing, pauses, and flow - in a social setting that supports both experimentation and enjoyment.
No pressure. No performance. Just dancing.

SATURDAY, 4:30 – 5:45 pm
Grounded Tango – The Power of the Standing Leg
In tango, everything begins with the standing leg. Balance, stability, pivots, and connection all depend on how clearly we organize our weight and how we interact with the floor.
In this workshop, Marcelo “El Chino” Gutiérrez explores the mechanics of grounding - how the standing leg supports movement, how the free leg releases naturally, and how dancers generate movement from the floor rather than from the upper body.
Through simple but powerful exercises, Marcelo will help you refine balance, improve pivots, and discover a more stable and effortless axis.
This workshop is less about steps and more about how movement is built from the ground up - a key element of Marcelo’s teaching method.
Why you need it:
Most tango problems start in the standing leg:
unstable pivots
heavy leading
unclear weight changes
difficulty maintaining axis
When the standing leg works correctly, tango becomes easier, smoother, and far more expressive. This class gives you the physical foundation for everything that follows.
💡 Why You Should Come
Because this is where things connect.
You take a workshop. You understand something new.
Then you step onto the floor - and suddenly it becomes real.
Dancing to Marcelo’s music is an extension of his teaching:
clearer musical phrasing
more intentional movement
deeper connection with your partner
And also… it’s just a really good milonga.
Come as you are. Stay as long as you like.
Dance a little. Chill a little. Chat w Marcelo.
This is Che Tango.
